Biography

School of Social Transformation students know Professor Ronnie Cox as clinical associate professor of African and African American studies, and for many he is their first entrée into the Sshool and into African and African diaspora studies, where he teaches the ever-popular "Race, Gender and Sport" course and "Intro to African American Studies and African Diaspora Studies."

He also wears another important hat at ASU. A military officer whose service included a tour of duty in Iraq, Professor Cox teaches American Defense Policy in the ROTC program. His interests in national defense and in sports management at the collegiate and professional level bring many real-world lessons to his teaching and mentoring of students.
