With over 300 programs offered by ASU Study Abroad, School of Social Transformation students’ options are wide open. There is no better way to learn about a new culture or language than to be fully immersed in it! In particular, the School of Social Transformation participates in the "ASU Sustainability and Social Justice in the Middle East" partnership program with BenGurion University of the Negev.
Located in Beer Sheva, Israel, the university was formed in 1969 to transform the Negev desert into a place where agriculture, science, technology and innovation could flourish. True to its founding purpose, BenGurion actively promotes technology, desert preservation, water resource management, alternative energy, and international health services, while also building bridges of peace between Israel and its Arab neighbors through initiatives in science, research and development.
Students in the ASU program can choose from either a Sustainability and Social Justice Track or an Israel Studies Track. In order to participate in the program, students must have obtained at least a sophomore status. The experience would be especially appropriate for majors in justice and social inquiry, sustainability, and Jewish studies, but is open to students in any major.
